Experimental quartet that pushes the bounds of jazz or any definition. Anything “traditional” is left after the label “quartet” and their use of upright bass, drums, sax and trumpet. This CD is awash with tastefully looped electronics and hovers between the realm of Brian Eno and Harold Budd to that of Bill Dixon or a Miles Davis vicodin induced dreamstate. If this is the future of jazz then I’m buying a beret; I am so there.

1) enters quiet then excellent synth tones, snare drum loops, general sci-fi spaciness, somewhat noisey
2) excellent chill reeds/horns over percussion, spacey and beautiful
3) treated trumpet and sax solo for the most part, lovely
4) looping electro foundation underneath, like Tangerine Dream, but with beautiful treated trumpets and stuff
5) beautiful trumpet and upright bass duet, chill
6) an ambient drone, wash, very chill
7) a slow meander, looping electronic washes, tuvan throat sounds, percussion, tenor sax
