Album Review
Your Imaginary Friend
Reviewed 2007-06-30
2 discs, each one a single track of 40-44 minutes of the most subtle, serene, hypnotic, subliminal drone imaginable. Radigue belongs to the Academic school of minimalist experimentalists, she’s been around the block. You’ll find her performing at Mills College, interviewing on WKCR, creating works for major art installations and openings. Her works are inspired (at least of late) by eastern mysticism and philosophy and the tragic death of her son. Along with Alvin Lucier, she can do more with a single sine wave than most composers can with a full symphony. Granted, this isn’t for the average dj, but it serves as a good way to chill, segue into a soundbed, or just get something on the air for 40 minutes while you do something else.
