VxPxC - "Porchmass" CD (Digitalis Industries)
Junkyard orchestra is a good way to describe this bands sound. The album was recorded entirely on a front porch and while it uses a few battery powered instruments there are other things like singing bowls, pots and pans, and nice accordion. Somewhat improv jams, somewhat noise, and somewhat free folk. Most of this has a lazy, slow, non-aggressive, feel with simple keys, slow accordion and few vocals. There is something minimal sounding to this despite it being noise that isn't drone.
**1. That accordion reminds me of a melody line on an old LAURIE ANDERSON record. Clanking pots and pans and accordion.
2. More machine and repetitive sounding.
3. Nosier with some vocal sounds and guitar. Turns into free folk.
4. Childlike in it's simple playing. I'm not that into the cheap guitar improv.
**5. Darker almost drone with a repeated slow electronic pulse.
6. Out of tune guitar strum.
7. Out of tune moans? Random accordion? Bad guitar improv?
8. Quiet rumbling and bell sounds. Then some guitar. Vocals.
**9. A lot like track 5. Darker.
10. Slow with vocals.
OK stuff -mph
