Collective-folk-jazz-art-pop. Another one of these huge collective groups that seems all the rage. Vocals are high pitched Xiu-xiu-y male vox, drowned out behind a very cluttered rhythm bed. Thick varied percussion and many layers of instrumentation. FCC unclean, but hard to hear. Picks 1,2,5,6,7.
*1-5:02) Syncopated handclap stomp beat. Psychy high pitched male vox. Chorus joins in.
Communal build. Almost African rock beat in the guitars.
*2-3:34) Darker stomp, gamelan buried below? Vox harder to make out. FCC "fucking". Ends with intelligible "meaningful" couplet.
3-5:17) Immediate jazzy trombone animal calls. Settles into snakey, vaguely exotic beat. Last minute mostly instr. beat with skronks. Ends on quiet held horn note.
4-10:50) Mid/fast repetitive drum beat. 70s funk-jazzy horn line. Builds into muddy wall of sounds then slowly decresc. Last 15 sec. silence.
*5-3:08) Opens nylon acoustic almost classical guitar. Very wet sounding waltz with violin, cello, drums, electronics. Ends soft. FCC "shit?"
*6-3:40) Weird, dreamlike, like a exotic movie soundtrack played over a Tom Waits beat. FCC "cocks". Then switches into slide guitary "rock" beat. Ends with Tin Hat Trio-y sounds.
*7-2:52) Weird take on 70s soul, with sick strings in the background. FCC "shit?". Ends in swirly wall of cacophony to held strings.
8-4:45) Soft, persistent electronicy 4 on the floor beat. FCC "shit". Eh.
9-19:36) Slow. Starts with chimes. Prominent acoustic nylon chords covering pained Xiu Xiu-esque vocals. At -16:50 serious emo-esque crash but with skronk instruments. -16:10 quiets
down to brisk beat with skronks. -14:50 coffeehouse folk harmonies over soft nylon guitar.
Slowly fades out to -13:00. Hidden track at -5:28. Electronic pads. Quirky tribal drum pounding. Hard to make out vox. Eh.
