Awesome debut album from Annie Clark, the guitarist for The Polyphonic Spree. She's got a folky voice and a mature, self-questioning attitude -- I'm reminded of folkies like Patty Larkin, Ilene Weiss, maybe Christine Lavin without the goofy side -- but the music gets tougher, more rock-flavored, and throws some edgy curveballs, like on track 3. At the same time, you've got some dramatic ballad-like songs that draw back to old-time jazz or movie tunes for inspiration.

2- Opens with a Christmasy bell-chiming "bom-bom-bom" vocal, nice self-questioning lyric
3- Gets a bit weird, with a pulsing beat and some crazy piano later -- fantastic stuff, best track here
