Slightly Stoopid – Chronchitis

Reggae/dub, also jazzy bluesy dancey stuff. Interesting and inventive, fine musicianship, quite a variety of musical and vocal styles.
Reggae: tracks 1, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 15.
Kinda Reggae: tracks 2, 14, 16.
Not Reggae: tracks 3, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, 17.
FCCs: might be one on track 7 (dammit!), lots on tracks 10 and 13.
I like 7, 12, and 15 best.
1. 4:27 *mellow acoustic guitar, a bit of a samba vibe. You can hear the fingers on the strings. Very relaxed and pretty, w/ vocal harmonies.. At 1:45, suddenly starts a midtempo dub skank.
2. 3:12 **downtempo jazzy and slightly funky groove, male singing and rap. Cornet and bluesy guitar.
3. 3:42 *um.. Southern rock shuffle. Pretty male singing.
4. 4:59 **midtempo bouncy Reggae bubble with what sounds like vocal beatboxing. Quite relaxed, some bits don’t have much sound at all.
5. 3:14 ***terrific midtempo dub skank, thick sound, vocal harmonies.
6. 3:48 **uptempo bubble with a fair amount of dub, nice bass. Rather lightweight singing/lyrics, but cool music.
7. 3:59 FCC? May be a “shit” ****downtempo rather exotic beat, with lots of different percussion and electronics. Kinda dubby, very appealing.
8. 3:49 ***downtempo dub/electronic skank, prominent guitar. Vocal harmonies.
9. 3:22 **funky/swingy downtempo skank..
10. 4:15 FCC – extremely suggestive, “pussy” X several. *downtempo kinda funky/bluesy stroll.
11. 3:19 *relaxed, bluesy and pretty, but a bit “Margaritaville”… Instrumental.
12. 3:46 ****highly syncopated but mellow.. mambo? Grazing in the Grass? Some really fine guitar on this…
13. 3:56 FCCs – “fuck shit up” a few times. **scratch ‘n’ sniff, but lots of other stuff going on. Pity about the rather gratuitous FCCs.
14. 2:17 **uptempo but laid-back shuffle with one-drop beat, very clear lyrics for once.
15. 4:01 ****midtempo Lover’s Rock skank with slide guitar – sweet sound.
16. 5:54 *relaxed folk/pop with (quite good) acoustic guitar, pretty love song. Switches to a slow skank, but with a Woodstock feel…
17. 2:49 jangly acoustic guitar, choral vocals, rather churchical. Nice trumpet solo.
