The Geeks "Too Fat Pig" - Free jazz/art noise/etc. This was recorded from 1979-1981 in/around Marin (so they were local). It's unclear if these songs have been released before or not. Similar to the previous 7” released a few years ago this is gritty and raw. The vocals are a little weird and creepy and don't always make a lot of sense, but they work well with the feel of the music behind them. Both songs use vocals that are more spoken than sung. This 7” leans a bit more towards the free jazz noise side of things. No real melodies or obvious beats, but it does have moments of cohesiveness. Pounding and banging drums and other percussive sounds, sax, guitar, bass, and apparently there is clarinet too. Pretty interesting stuff and well worth checking out. FCC: side A (Too Fat Pig)
My Picks: B

A)Fades in with sax and drum noodling. Female vocals come in with a laid back jazzy delivery, although it's mostly spoken rather than sung. Background music is sax, guitar, bass, and drums. Steady beat at times, but then becomes less structured. Creepy lyrics particularly at the end when she's whispering “you're dead, pig, roll over...” FCC: says “shit”
B)Starts with some bangs and then fades in with random sax squawks and bangs from the drums and cymbals. Male spoken-sung vocals about visiting day at San Quentin. Walking bass line becomes more up front and the music starts to get heavier and more urgent with the harsher lyrics.
