Hirota, a taiko drummer, shakuhachi (flute) player, singer, and composer performs traditional folk songs ranging from fishermen’s work songs to lullabies. They feature a traditional, classical Japanese sound and everything is elegantly performed. Good notes on each track. All tracks slow & stately, joined by violin, harp, other strings.

*1. Slow, lyrical w/a beautiful melody & stately vocals/flute.
2. 4 variations on a cherry blossom song. Slow & emotional.
3. Medley of kids’ songs. Slow but delicate and hopeful. Kids chorus.
*4. Lovely, evocative song of the sea. Slow and sweeping.
*5. A heartbreaking, homesick song. Slow and sad, but pretty.
6. Starts VERY quietly. Then a sweet, gentle lullaby.
7. Slow and moving w/soaring vocals & fluid strings.
*8. An original comp w/flute & strings. So pretty & haunting.
9. Relaxed and peaceful w/big vocals & a sweeping epic sound.
10. Another sad track, full of longing. Lyrical & melodic.
