Low Low Low La La La Love Love Love - Ends of June Reviewed by Witz Melancholy, slow, acoustic folk. This surprisingly British band's second release does not stray very far from the musical theme: slow, melancholy tunes, primarily acoustic guitar driven, with soft, but sweet vocals on top. Each song demonstrates some level of uniqueness, but there aren't any major standout tracks, either as high points or low points. Instead, the album plays like one extended piece with various subtle movements. There are good lyrics, some catchy bits, and plenty of melodious guitar. This is contemplative rainy day music, and as such, it is enjoyable and well done. FCC CLEAN. *1) Soft and melodic-- nice vocals and guitar. (4:00) 2) Soft and builds up and down like waves. Good vocals. (3:45) *3) Slightly more energy and volume. Still soft, but some electric guitar. (3:47) 4) More powerful strumming and energized vocals. Simon and Garfunkle-y(3:43) **5) Lighter and more upbeat. Catchy and good music and lyrics. (3:29) 6) Soft and fairly unchanging. Smooth and somber. (6:37) 7) Soft and Elliott Smith invoking. (3:15) 8) Minimal, with clarinet or oboe that builds by the end. (4:36) 9) Slow and steady, ups and downs. (4:20) *10) Good vocals reminiscent of The Frames.
