Saxophone and two drummers, playing free jazz that often deals a deft, subtle hand but can also get crazy. You get some nicely blazing free jazz but lots of long, thoughtful passages too.

The drummers, Scott Amendola and Donald Robinson, do a great job creating an interwoven sound without creating a big crashing mess. Larry Ochs on sax is the lead voice, spinning free-form melodies mixed in with some downright cool sax tricks.

These pieces aren't purely improvised but are compositions by Ochs (one co-written with Amendola).

1- Brash midtempo, tumbling and aggressive from the start. Cools down later but stays edgy.
2- An almost mournful melody, sparse and a bit Balkan-influenced. Delicate drumming w/brushes, very nice.
3- Softly declarative. Lots of quiet snare, and sharply buzzy sax chirping. Brash later but stays spacious.
4- The catchy, energetic one. Starts with a jazzy sad melody w/Persian exotic touch. After 4 minutes, second half gets into a driven fast beat and a blazing ending.
5- Softly urgent, tense. Mid/fast rhythms. Gets into fast fluttering and tribal pounding.
6- Jazzy: Rolling, snappy, loud. With a soothing drum interlude.
7- Quiet, almost an Asian tone, with soft toms drumming that sounds really cool.
8- A choppy, buzzy, free-jazz flow. Nicely rough-edged, fast/dark. Careens around like an aria, like a storytelling.
