Classical compositions for solo piano and small ensemble by one of the preeminent composers of the twentieth century. FCC clean. Picks 4,1,6. *1-12:08) Snaky Oboe and unusual percussion. Late night shadowy corridors in a black and white Greek film. *2-18:15) Lots of contrasts, dissonances between piano and horn smears. Dare I say there is a story being told? 3-13:19) Slow. Mostly horns. Lamenting. Vaguely reminiscent of Mingus's "The Clown" at times. **4-7:59) Solo piano. Active, tumultuous waves interspresed with deliberate plinky parts. 5-11:08) Fast piano 1 minute intro, like Satie on crack. Tribal-orchestra enters. Gets stormy towards end. *6-8:41) Solo piano. Gnarly, very thick. Lots of banging runs up and down the keyboard. Sudden end. | ||
