Last Gasp, The

Ripping, “medical, surgical” death metal from Oakland. Lots of great riffs, solos and sick vocals. Interestingly this ties together sarcastic, political set of lyrics implanted through their usual gore & “mad doctors” schtik. “G.O.R.E. is a Force That Gives Us Mean” for example. Damn good and lots of fun all the way. (And yes, yes, it does still sound like that British band that rhymes with “Shark Ass” but not on every note, whadda think this is General Surgery?)

((((1))))) Aggressive and to the point DM with totally insane 80’s solos and rad gang vox.
(((((2))))) “Uhhahhh!” Crazy mix on Carcass, Gorguts and a scalple slice of old Megadeth. “Satan is Health”? Oh, “Sickness is Health”.
(((((3)))) Rockin’ mid-tempo with some cool dual vox and melodic soloing. Sounds like it could be “the single” or “video” but in a good & gory way, y’know?
(((((4))))) Starts almost like “Crazy Train” then speeds & chugs along like a chuckwagon filled with zombie doctors. Killer tech riffage & tempos.
((((5)))) Weird, straight-up modern riff and ultra-guttural DM vox then goes into total scale, hack n’ slash.
((((((6))))) Thrashin’ DM into the bowels of the H.M.O. (Hell’s Medical Overlords) office. “Your lack of personality is no great loss.” How many people fit THAT description!?!? Ha-ha!
((((7)))) Classy soloing & riffs ‘ala old Megadeth & Nasty Savage. Quickly explodes that boil into a death metal massacre. A good take on Rumsfeld’s wet dreams (aka: American torture rooms).
((((8)))) Filthy DM with some nice riffing and hammer-on pull offs and breakdowns. Someone needs to spray some 409 on these lyrics!
(((((9))))) Punishing opening, vile vocals, melodic bits here & there and more gang vox.
((((10)))) Killer riff that has a lot of groove and then tears into a total deatthrash mayhem. Fuck yessss!
(((((11))))) A soon-to-be classic riff and surprisingly catchy vocals. Exactly where Carcass should’ve went after “Heartwork”.
