Classic 1964 free-jazz recording, a short-lived band that would reconvene at Thurston Moore's request decades later. A direct and jazzy sound from some names who'd become bigger over the decades, including Roswell Rudd (trombone) and John Tchicai (sax), and Milford Graves (drums); also Lewis Worrell (bass), who would drop out of the scene. One track features poetry from Amiri Baraka, who would rejoin the band for the reunion concerts later (we've got their 35th anniversary CD in the library).

A nice taste of some of the more inventive jazz of its time, at home alongside Ornette Coleman or even Cecil Taylor.

1- A wide-open improvisatory feel, slowly cascading. Lonely trombone intro.
2- *FCC* at around -1:00. Poetry with bass and drum. Spare.
3- A slowish sweet feel, shades of sultry New Orleans music buried in there. Midtempo.
4- Upbeat. Drum solo up front; sax solo for most of the piece.
5- Brisk and upbeat after a groany trombone intro. Ends with a long bass solo.
6- Busy ramble, mid/fast. Really interesting drum solo; lots of different sounds in there.
