"Black Triage"

Dark and Heavy Bass 'n Breaks. The record is thematic and theatrical centering around the theme of instances of mass murder and genocide. The tracks are composed of slow classic breaks with long breaths and very deep, dark minimal digisounds to create a black cloud of mellow heaviness. The deep punching beat keeps you nodding like a bobble-head. No curse words, but 3 and 4 describe people being hacked to death, eaten by dogs, and other extreme violence. The last half of the album is in the vein of the Dust Brothers "Fight Club". This album is awesome; even though it is not totally cutting edge d 'n b / downtempo breaks, it's a pleasure to listen. Picks: 3, 5, 8, 9, 12

(0:31) Introduction: "3 kinds of people: killers, victims, and bystanders"
(5:59) A short cello intro followed by a booming thump, distant chanting, and a few sparse piano notes.
(5:30) A girl's story about genocide filled with heavy breaks and deep, undulating digital sounds reminiscent of tamboura.
(3:30) Quiet piano with bursts of heavily distorted strings and blasts of northern India sounding bowed strings. The last 20 seconds is quiet.
(6:26) Questions about the use of the word: "Genocide." Loud, dark, fast breaks come in at 2:20. Some distorted middle-eastern sounding horn blasts a few times.
(3:21) Lo-fi slow beat with creeping strings and sparse piano keys.
(3:59) Creeped-out distant metallic sounds like a
(4:49) Deep bowed double bass plays loudly over slow, thumping breaks. Dark boom takes over with sharp digital beeps. Hell yeah.
(4:48) Dark wah-wah with several different breaks, echoing vocals and sparse wailing vocals.
(4:55) A heavy brass gong, an echoing harp and digital buzz floats over slow downtempo beats.
(4:19) Distant vocals over a PA accompanied by a viola in harmonized soundtrack-like chamber music. The beat is metallic and suppressed.
(2:51) Chimes played backwards in a minimal tune. -Rikyu
