Mostly very pretty, instrumental acoustic guitar songs that make me think of Cul De Sac, and, to a lesser extent, Low, Do Make Say Think, even Jim O’Rourke’s Happy Days, you know, that kind of monotonous, dissonant guitar playing. Apparently, this band has done at least one soundtrack. Some jazz influences, maybe in places just a touch of alt.country (I mean only slightly). This album is quite varied and very, very good. Songs are mostly normal length. Seattle artists.
Rec: 7, 8, 11
Dissonant, dark, repetitive
Plodding with a bass drum beat
Almost like Nels Cline,
This makes me think of some of Ed Ka-spel’s mid-period (from Shadow Weaver, etc.) guitar experiments
Droney experiments, somewhat like Cindytalk’s more ambient material
Song with a beat, more folky
Pretty, almost faux-incomplete
Beautiful song
Sad song in Eb major
LONG, 9 minutes, varied, meandering
Pretty in a dissonant way, reverb-vocals like, uh, Bauhaus’ 3 Shadows part 1?! Also like Low.
