Very interesting, recently unearthed lo-fi, singer-songwriter, power-pop/folk rock originally appearing on a cassette only format in 1986. In the realm of Lou Reed and Jonathan Richman or even an earlier version of Sebadoh.
((((1))) Slow and strummy, low-down with some cool burlpy electronics.
(((((2))))) Sounds EXACTLY like primo Lou Reed in the vocals with very simple guitar and percussion.
((((3))))) Strummy, moody & lo-fi folk-rock with trippy whispered backing chorus.
((((4)))) Melanacholic, obsessive “budget new wave” (the best kind, natch).
((((5))) Dylan-ish folk, clanging guitars. Deals with trying to deal with every day life and “taking a quick look at latest Penthouse spread”.
(((((6))))) Nice, heartfelt, poppy, Jonathan Richman-ish folk-rock.
(((((7)))) Moody, wavering voice, odd-metered druggy female backin’ vox. A little strange but likeable.
(((((((8))))))) Wow! Just perfect, lo-fi folk-pop with fantastic mood/chord/vocal changes and percussion.
(((9))) Minimal bedroom recording with floppy electronics, tape hiss and sloowww vocals and random strumming.
((((10))))) Clear sound with more very Lou Reed-y vocals. Has that cool storytelling vibe (it’s a mini-bio of Hemmingway).
(((11))) (FCC “Mothierfucker” sung in 1st verse), Slow & swaggery, drunken Tom Waits-ish vocals. Not really “on”.
(((12))) 70s hard rock solo with a driving feel, generally good but the 80’s synths are odd dropped in this lo-fi mix.
(((13))) Strummy & steady. Very Velvet Underground sounding.
((14)) Silly, goofy, lo-fi, folk-rock with some jazz horns.
(((15))) An otherwise good moody number ruined by crappy electronics.
((((16))))) Keyboard-laden lo-fi, 80’s new wave. That works pretty well.
(((17))) Languid, jangley, bright chords.
(((18))) 80’s keyboards, “ohmming” some silly, generic “hippie lyrics” lyrics but kinda good musically.
((((19)))) Uppity, more Velvets-ish rock, some rad keyboard playing & tempos.
(((20))) Strummy, intrictate acoustic guitars, so-so vox.
(((21))) Odd mix of simple jangley rock and a little audio play about a cheating wife.
