Your Imaginary Friend Reviewed 2008-05-06 | ||
This could be a horror film soundtrack: Noise elements, electro elements, swallowed electrobeats/rhythms into a mass of treatments, distortion but definitely not “power noise”/harsh. Interesting stuff that can be called downtempo, electro or noise, flip a three sided coin. Local artist(s). Cool stuff, all on the chill dark side, bordering on industrial. For fans of old Cabaret Voltaire, Clock DVA, Throbbing Gristle, Boyd Rice, Cthonic Force. 1) dark hollow echoey stringed tones, brief 2) mostly chill, creepy, with low end rumbles and blippy, samples 3) cool swallowed rhythm, beat, downtempo and creepy 4) super cool plod beat, almost tribal, still dark and chill, near industrial 5) starts with some subtle white noise/distortion, mostly an electro rhythm, disjunct, fuzzy 6) samples in intro, becomes very rhythmic quickly, tribal 7) again rhythms are more pronounced if fucked up 8) droney tones then becomes a pronounced disjunct rhythm, with swirling creepy tones 9) dark pulsing, slow and particularly scary, with a “heartbeat” tone throughout |
