Tuva - Irish Live Music Project

SAINKHO NAMCHYLAK/ROY CARROLL - "TUVA - IRISH Live Music Project"
The concept is to mix Tuvan singing (well and other forms of singing) with Irish improvised music. Throw in some story telling, some laptop loops, subtle sounds of percussion improv coming from the laptop, and some live overdubbed vocals and you end up with this disc and a very unique sound. The music seems to take a back seat to the vocals and story telling.
**1. Not sure what language she's singing in but it's not English. A chant/meditation feel. Very quiet laptop gurgling behind her vocals. During the second half of the track there is a second voice, telling a story with the signing continuing in the background. That background singing changes to Tuvan throat singing.
2. Standard Tuvan throat singing with quiet laptop sounds in the background and again a 2nd voice telling a story at the end of the track.
3. Simple percussion and slightly chant-like singing. Very american indian sounding. Minimal percussion and no vocals at the end.
**4. Glitchy/staticy electronics, bell sounds and storytelling.
**5. Drone and pretty singing. The singing changes to storytelling/poetry. Back to singing and then some of both.
6. Sort of a poem/chant and quiet electronics. Simple and sparse percussion shows up. Recording sounds more obviously live. Electronics dominate the last couple minutes.
7. Vocal noises and sparse percussion sounds. Sounds like the two things, the vocals and laptop are playing different songs. Wanders a bit.
**8. More aggressive vocals and more experimental laptop electronics. Good stuff. Sounds like some of the vocals are manipulated by the laptop and at times there are multiple vocals but only a single vocalist. She gets angry on this track. I really like this track.
9. Some humming types vocal sounds and spoken word. Static sounding electronics.
10. Wordless singing and quiet clanking and squeaks. Vocals get a bit noisy.
