Album Review
Ragnar of Ravensfjord
Reviewed 2008-05-26
Rad folk punk from Bloomington, Indiana. Very spirited and combining personal and political lyrics in a generally practical approach with a nce mix of violins, acoustic guitars and straight-forward vocals. Good, catchy stuff.

(((1))) Pretty decent, lo-fi folk-punk with occasionally ramblin’ guitars.
((((2)))) Slow to mid-paced “punk folk waltz” tempo. Nice chorus, too.
((((3)))) Bassy, strummy pop-punk with hook-based verses and chorus. Sounds like multiple East Bay/Gilman bands circa: ’88-’90.
((((4)))) (FCC “fuck” sung twice) Louder recording with lots of violin, fast strumming. “Primitive Anacho-Folk Punk”?
(((5))) More strummy, political poppy punk. A little too repetitive but generally has it’s heart in the right place.
(((6)))) Boxy drums, lots of melancholic violin then and a really interesting tempos that keep building in different directions.
(((7))) So-so folk punk. Spirited but also generally kinda average overall.
(((((8))))) Loose, almost gypsy, European folk vibe mixed with punk vocals. Really good lyrics, too.
(((9))) Sad folk ballad almost bordering on pop emo junk in a way but nearly cancelled out by the good playing.
(((((10))))) Mid-paced guitar strums, whistling and very late 80’s indie rock-ish vocals (Think Camper Van Beetoven). References Fugazi and Slayer.
(((11))) Slow-to-mid-paced haromica-led folk dealing with people’s need to get away from it all.
((((12)))) Up tempo, loud (!) folk with march-like stop/starts. Lots of passion and hearffelt spirits here.
