The Byrd of Paradise
Reviewed 2008-05-13
A most unique British "roots" R&B singer/songwriter/bandleader and serious guitarist. Tuff, small band - horns and backup vocals. This CD harkens back to the 50s and 60s boogaloo and bossa nova, remembering Sam Cooke, Ray Charles and many others, but these are all originals.

1. Poppy rhumba w/strings, tuff vocals.
2. Laidback bossa nova - Sam Cooke
3. Tuff, phat, funky - remembering Ray
4. Sweet, soulful - easy swingin' ballad
5. Snappy uptempo boogaloo
6. Lowdown, laidback - smokey
7. Sweet, soulful strollin ballad
8. 60's boogaloo bounce - tuff vocals
9. Easy swingin' deep vocal flow
10. Jumpin' bossanova bounce
11. Galloping laidback 2nd line
12. Sweet acoustic guitar & vocals
