Modern adult rock with elements of traditional Mexican music and some mellow jazz turns. Dusky, low female vocal and mostly Spanish lyrics, which apparently describe life growing up in the barrio. Heartfelt stuff.

Fans of latter-day Santana or Los Lobos (or of Ry Cooder, who produced it) should take note -- BUT avoid the overproduced, Vegas-friendly slower tracks, which come across like Lifetime Original Movie montage scenes. FCC clean, to my knowledge.

- Nice chugging feel, English lyrics about the world of boxing. Mid/fast rock.
- Mid/fast Mexican-blues feel, w/organ.
- Midtempo, partly English. Kinda rocking, kinda heavy
- Slow piano song, gets dramatic.
- Slow, w/jazzy horns and piano.
- Folky and bright, even a bit countryfied. English lyrics.
- Midtempo rock tune, apparently about (not) coming out. English.
- Mid/fast galloping rhythm. Minor key, w/spoken interlude
- Slow mellow jazz song w/ trumpet. Pleasant.
- R&B and Mexican influences mix. Slowish but not that sad.
- Upbeat, soul horns. Rocking in a nostalgic way. English.
- Midtempo, a sentimental grand finale, quite Vegas-like.
