Album Review

Violin-led band, melodic stuff. Gentle -- yes that is Nels Cline you see on the band roster -- with some spiky, aggressive composing but a pleasant feel overall. Electric piano adds some spacey, fusiony goodness on some tracks. Like an ECM recording but with more warmth; Gauthier isn't afraid of experimenting (see track 5), but his style is accessible overall.
Instrumental; FCC clean.

1- Gentle midtempo, light. Candlelight piano chords.
2- Cool little chugging beat. Nels gets to add a little menace.
3- Slow beat. Relaxing dark melody.
4- Bright, quick composed lines; some loose jam segments that get a little wild. Starts slow.
5- Some wide-open spaces. Meditative intro; after 4.5 minutes, a cosmic jam, w/rolling drums and spacey synth/guitar under slow violin lines.
6- A bit of rawness. Squawky intro, fuzzy guitar. Intense drum solo ends it.
7- Slow romantic melody, sad sidewalk-cafe stuff. Opens with a lurking fog.
