Album Review
Your Imaginary Friend
Reviewed 2008-07-05
Dissonant angular noise rock with noisey synths and disjunct beats and an overall heaviness and a No Wave sentiment. Male vocals take a backseat in most of this, if they are there at all. Creative guitars and drums that are altogether tribal, mechanical, and rockin’. Dance Disaster Movement, Ex Models, other Troubleman Unlimited type bands come to mind. All tracks good, clean.

1) starts with a nice droney haze but quickly crashes into plodding heaviness (play with next track) 2) back and forth with noisey synth/vocals and crashing loudness
3) no wavey, fast burst of guitar over slowly phrased vocs, careful with false endings
4) mechanical near Devo feel, almost silly
5) tribal drums, epic with quiet parts, mostly a slower relatively chiller piece
6) very mechanical feel, metallic, plodding
7) this one has an upbeat rhythm and beat you can sink your teeth into, more musical
8) creepy and spooky dark slow tone starts to tribal pound midway
9) starts noisey and chill, then midway kicks into a swinging tribal beat that’s dancey almost
10) brief looping noise, bookends the cd
