Acoustic quartet running solid jazz grooves with plenty of open soloing. Sprited, a bit lo-fi. Nice stuff -- blazing and energetic, steeped in jazz tradition, with sax and trombone gracing most tracks, and a prominently thick bass sound.
1- Fairly fast flow, more abstract than most tracks. SEGUES into:
2- Soulful little groove, light and mid/fast. Sax at first, then both horns get cooking a bit. Late in the game, sax takes a really outside solo as the band loosens considerably. SEGUES into:
3- Spirited bass solo, then a toe-tapping groove
4- Light-touch percussion, decently fast but meditatively soft. Then a nice little bass groove.
5- Groove that gets into some nice furious sax. Fades away early on, then comes back in a calmer groove, still mid/fast. The whole thing rolls along for more than 20 minutes.
6- Loose bass/drums, gets into a simplistic riff. Into some nice improvising w/trombone
7- Sunny New Orleans riff, lotta soul. A short, simple "hit single" of an ending.
