Ragnar of Ravensfjord Reviewed 2008-08-27 | ||
Sample art of 60’s & 70’s-era drek, pop, folk & country mixed with some cool modern beats & layers. Confusing but in several places pretty darn good. (((1))) Great guitar sound but the French M.I.A. sounding girls get the heave ho. (2) (TOO MANY FCCS AVOID! Which sucks since this samples “I’m In Your Band” from the “World Greatest Prank Calls” LP) Ever heard of the Krinkles? ((3)) Chopped up beats, 70’s musicial snippets. Far too silly to be of much worth. ((4)) Smarmy 70’s balladry, some good bass/drums breaks and spoken descriptions behind the song ((((5)))) Sliced up of bits of “Psych Out” by Pierre Henry and many other chunks of 60’s & 70’s “go-go” pop. (((6))) Mellow, laid back folk-pop with female vocals. Nice stuff. ((7)) Silly repetitious disco & 70’s soul samples. (((8))) Guitar fuzz, poppy psych rock mixed with modern beats & not-so-shitty “dancefloor” vibe. ((9)) So-so, very 90’s techno with a bunch of samples. Pretty generic. ((((10)))) Down tempo electro-dub with speak and spell samples. Solid beats so it gets extra (()) s. ((((11)))) Nice, funky, break-beats (?) & loops. (((12))) Twangy country-folk pop from the 70’s with contemporary beats and loops of Johnny Cash’s “Sunday Morning Comin’ Down”. |
