Happy happy jazz/world mix. The overall sound falls more on the jazz side (jams infused with swingy horns and plenty of contemporary ideas), but also picks up the sunny flavor of African musics, along with percussion and occasional vocals to complete the setting. Uplifting stuff in small, sometimes too-small, doses. 1- Sneaky groove, into a flowing, summery jazz space. Female vocals 2- Soft and swingy, a nice warm evening 3- Old-time tune in a chugging, swingy vein. Catchy. 4- Snappy, poppy, fun. Cool vocal percussion!! 5- Breezy, dramatic '60s jazz. Nice. 6- Cool groove with piano, heats up quickly. Very '60s-jazz horn line. 7- Chugging and savvy grooved song, nice "world" feel with crafty male vocals. Lonely sax intro. 8- Jangly mid/fast, African feel to the horns, female vocals. Mellow. 9- Quiet groove, very much a soft-bebop jazzy feel. Classical piano intro. 10- Swingy, midtempo, upbeat. Sunny South African kind of flute solo at the end. 11- Ooo, sneaky N'Orleans vamp, slow and tasty. 12- Quirky, dissonant hopping. Mellow danceability, especially in the jazz-guitar solo |
