Reminiscent of Throwing Muses, Belly, Th’ Faith Healers, Magneta Lane or other sultry voiced female vocal’ed indie rock with a pleasant edge. Moves between the rougher edges of dissonance and pleasantries of near-twee or Brit-Pop. Anyone who likes a good woman’s voice woven amongst quality dreamy guitar/bass/drum rock should take note. Time Out NY called her “ a voice that flirts between come-hither and go-fuck-yourself”. Good one; wish I’d thought of that accurate assessment. Canadian origins come through now and then with occasional French versus.
1) cool hipgrinding beat, pretty guitar washes, lovely melodic
2) straight ahead pop rock with slightly dissonant guitar approach, smacks of early 90’s Dinosaur or some other proto-indie
3) more light hearted, jangley and bouncy
4) light again and “hit” quality, pleasant melodic and flows nicely, lovely
5) upbeat great rhythm, driving with breaks, really good
6) mellow, ballady, sensitive, would fit in with a Lilith Faire chick-rock set
7) upbeat and lush
8) driving and rockin’ out dream pop
9) a bit ballady despite the rock element, mellow and sad, really, “everyone is in love with someone else”. Word.
10) very mellow duet, just her voice and simple acoustic guitar for the first half or so, then minimal pretty instrumentation joins in, very lovely, last versus sung in French (that’s right, they’re Canadian)
