Album Review
Your Imaginary Friend
Reviewed 2008-12-21
If you neeed to kill time (you know, take a long dump, shoot up, call your dying mother on the phone) play this one. Live recordings of seminal artists of art/noise industrial with a new release. Two long tracks, documenting live performances. This duo goes back to the early 70’s (think Can, Neu, Gong). This material is very experimental as it has collage all over it and minimal beats. Keep in mind it was a live performance so the two tracks are long. In reality I am sure each track represents 8-10 different “songs”.

1) starts with a somewhat tribal feeling, about a quarter way through gets chill and builds slowly into a nice rhythmic sound collage, which gives way to a near regal, epic wash of sounds, with about 14 minutes left it turns to more experimental drone and noise, so if you are into that I suggest you fast forward to about 13:25 remaining, cuz out of the drone a fine noise/industrial beat evolves, great
2) good chill downtempo beat with lots of seemingly random tones but very much in place, after about 7 minutes (where you might want to pot it down depending on what your into) it shifts to a dark ambience, creepy noise, voices appear here and there and it crawls around in dark ambience, quite intriguing and beautiful and brings you down pleasantly, like an orange after an acid trip
