Very pleasant & pretty sounding soundtrack-ish/new composer/classical sounds from Iceland. This is a multi-layered concept record dealing with 4 different interlocking stories. Some of which you can imagine in your head by reading the liner notes by reading this. Also, one of the likely thematic influences on this is the Jack Parsons bio “Sex and Rockets” (a very good read).
((((1)))) Long, ambient in places, very somber and cinematic.
((((2))) Sad clarinet & bassoon (?) with a few strings. Quite cyclical and eventually gets quiet near the end.
((((((3)))))) Slow violin, spacious with a few sparse, modern electronics & beats along with total Nordic doom piano.
(((4))) Minimal, sad, spacious clarinet & bassoon.
(((5))) Pretty typical soundtrack-y music with sad violins and weepyness abound.
((((6)))) Sparse, minimal piano with small layer of ambience in the middle.
((((7)))) Ambient funeral dirge. Bleak as fuck but good.
(((8))) Clarinet, bassoon & light strings, something like “ambient chamber jazz”?
(((((9))))) Pretty choral vocals, slowly but steadily cascading across the horizon. Not far from Avo Part.
((((10))))) Mid-paced and long organ & strings, piece gets more modern & louder in the latter half. Interesting stuff.
(((11))) Very long piece incorporating a slow but steady build up with moody strings. Drags on a bit but OK for “background sound”.
