Really interesting mix of doom metal, improv jazz (!) and death metal. It figures that ¾ of the band is from the similar minded Kayo Dot. Unlike Kayo Dot it’s less jazz and more metal but they do throw in a decent amount of horns and introspective bits. Mostly good results. The album title is inspired by the work of a poet named Donald Justice.

((((1)))) Punishing “death metal improv” with some mighty riffs that recall early My Dying Bride and maybe even Incantation.
((((2)))) Chaotic and disjointed with another odd mix of death metal, doom riffs and Mahavishnu Orchestra-like jazz fusion.
(((((3)))) All out blast beat, full on American DM attack with a bunch of fretboard frenzies that melt down into spacious doom sections.
(((4))) Quiet intro until 1:19 then glacially resonating doom riffs, sparse sax and cymbal work. Spazzes out for about 2 minutes then back. More interesting to the band than the listener though.
((((5)))) Giant doom riffs, pissed off vocals then wild, tech-death metal with chaotic pickslides and loose drumming. Gets mellow and weird around 5:25-end with a female chorus.
