Afro Peruvian (soulful) funky latin beats, oh yeah! dub, reggae & chilled out electronica. It is about the percussion. Very good vocals. nice horns, cool grooves. What Gotan project did for Tango, Novalima does to traditional Afro Peruvian but keeping much more of the traditional percussion. All tracks are VERY GOOD. ****1: 4:12 cool cool percussion, male vocal/shout, horns ***2: 3:41 funky Latin beat groove ****3: 4:38 funky dub, male vocal call, fem chorus response. cow bell ***4: 4:05 female vocal, male spoken word/vocal ***5: 4:19 female vocal (think Susanna Baca) slow, with male response. *****6: 4:08 faster percussion, slower fem vocal, faster male chorus "coba coba" ****7: 4:27 fem vocal, fast, great dub reggae bass riff. the horns the horns. ****8: 3:51 fem vocal, mid fast Salsa groove. ****9: 4:00 great bass line ( spy movie sound), timbales, Afro beat vocals groove ****10: 5:23 trippy percussion groove, minimal fem vocal/chant ****1: 3:52 Afro Peruvian guitar riff/ Caribbean Soca, male vocal/wail. male chorus, pounding percussion groove, cool keyboard noodling ***12: 3:37 cool chill, very cool male vocal & lush female vocal D Farrell 01/2009 | ||
