Southern rock with blues, funk, soul and gospel influences. Very reminiscent of The Allman Brothers band, with whom Trucks was/is a member. Guitar features prominently on all tracks along with some great drums, organ and backing vocals. Produced by Trucks and Doyle Bramhall II. Trucks' wife, Susan Tedeschi, sings lead on #10. My favorites are 1, 6, 9, 10. No FCC’s.
1. (5:02) Mid. Quiet acoustic intro leading to full-bodied band with nice elec. guitar work. Up-front vocals.
2. (5:01) Mid. Funky rocker with organ highlights and backing vocals.
3. (5:03) Slow/Mid. A bluesy groover with classic Allman Bros.-inspired elec. guitar and feel.
4. (4:38) Slow/Mid. Organ intro with vocal and hand claps, escalating into full band. Gospelish with nice backing vocals.
5. (4:16) Mid. Blues number with nice elec. guitar work. Slow fade-out.
6. (3:33) Mid/Fast. Blues stomper with elec. guitar and drums prominent. Backing vocals.
7. (5:18) Slow/Mid. Acoustic/electric and mellow. Great for a quiet set or weekend morning show.
8. (5:07) Slow/Mid. Full band intro with elec. guitar prominent. Quiet, soft vocal delivery. Similar in feel to #7, but a bit louder at end with some killer guitar.
9. (5:13) Mid. Bluesy intro with nice, single-note guitar work. Reflective lyrics, but not overly sentimental.
10. (4:20) Slow. Acoustic, brushes on drums, vocal by Susan Tedeschi. Spare and quiet.
11. (4:40) Mid. A short, but great guitar solo on here.
12. (2:46) Slow. Quiet blues with whispered vocals. Great foot-stomping fadeout.
