Abstract improv plus live electronics used to manipulate the sounds. Lots of echoey, ghostly sounds but also plenty of abrasive, harsh noises from saxophones or even piano. Quieter, flowing tracks are nicely contemplative (1,2,10) but the big, loud attack-mode tracks are loads of fun (6,8,9).
For a sound closer to something free-jazzy, try 1,9,10.
Michael Edwards (tenor sax, computer)
Karin Schistek (piano)
Martin Parker (french horn, computer)
1- Floating. A little bit ghostly. Slowly melodic sax aside sine-wave tones.
2- Springy metallic sounds created by playing inside the piano. Scribbly sax at a measured pace. This one feels mostly 'organic,' without much electronics.
3- Grumpy horn puffs. Gets into some spacey tones all echoed and lengthened via electronics: cool effect!
4- Plinky high piano. Small buzzes and glassy sounds. Built of small, quiet sounds overall.
5- Halting, brash. Really obnoxious horn bursts.
6- Aggressive haze, a menacing attack-mode feel. Industrial dance beat (?!) at first; a fuzzy blur later. Quiet end with cool piano plinking.
7- Intimate saxophone sketches backed by spacey, echoey sounds
8- Metal storm: Big, LOUD scraping sounds from inside the piano. Then calmer, echoey, piano slowness
9- Big free jazz. Buzzy brash sax; scattery fast piano
10- Quiet puddles of sound, fast but spare. A darker, tunnel-like sound later; last 30+ seconds are VERY quiet
