Banjo and the pursuit of its origin in Africa with an ALL STAR cast of African Musicians. ALL TRACKS ARE FANTASTIC. Documentary film about the trip is playing now. 1: 2:51 female call & response with fem. chorus, fast, locked hand clapping WOW! percussion, minimal banjo noodling at intro then more cool banjo picking 2: 4:16 male vocal/wail, fast banjo, fiddle & guitar (D'Gary from Madagascar) 3: 3:50 Fem vocal ( Oumou Sangare from Mali) with chorus, great banjo 4: 2:30 fast scat vocal intro , thumb piano & banjo 5: 2:51 fast M&F call & response vocals, cool fast song, goes lower towards end 6: 6:16 very cool jam with a large group of fantastic African All Stars, kind of a wall of sound with vocals & instruments 7: 5:08 slower banjo with percussion, beautiful sound, The title comes from the name of a town in Mali when the slaves saw the ocean and knew they were never going home again. 8: 4:00 slower beautiful picking and scat style male vocal, applause 9: 2:55 HUGE list of musicians, fast 15 foot marimba with a huge pit under it played by 8 people with lots of percussion 10: 4:33 fast male vocal/wail with intense banjo (traditional & 2 string) picking ****11: 3:20 very cool unusual vocal harmonizing, with minimal banjo 12: 4:31 cool cool picking with beautiful vocal chanting ****13: 2:58 African Blues, banjo, bowed lyre & toe percussion, fast 14: 3:25 thumb piano band, great banjo picking, beautiful vocals 15: 4:19 Instrumental, marimba with percussion & banjo 16: 3:51 mellow string picking, banjo & guitar 17: 5:05 soft & low fem vocal, Oumou Sangare, sparse banjo noodling 18: 7:14 thumb piano & banjo, @2:13 male vocal/chant.
