Polish folk music played by mind-bendingly good musicians and infused with modern sensibilities and world influences. Wicked good throughout. Excellent strings and percussion plus vocals by what sounds like a group of sirens from hell (in a good way). Often dark and mysterious, always surprising and compelling. One of the best world discs of the year so far. Play it all.

1. Dark upbeat w/scary female vocals. Almost violent.
2. Solid beat, midtempo w/great vocals & cello.
3. Those cool, dark vocals, starts slow, picks up w/a jazz mystery.
4. Wild disco/funk/folk meld. Scratching & squeaking. Mid/upbeat
5. Like an African work song sung by Carpathian vampires. Mid/up.
6. Gorgeous soulful female vocals w/spare strings. Slow & powerful.
7. Nykelharpa, strings in an elegant polska w/hints of several centuries
8. Mid/up folk dance w/great strings. A bit medieval.
9. Starts wicked fast, slows down, changes again. The Polka in review.
10. Stirring vocals, strings, dark mid/upbeat & passionate.
11. Cool strings in a blues-infused track w/soaring vocals. Down, cool.
12. Relaxed raga-inspired sweep w/great performances from all.
