FREDDIE HUBBARD: Without a Song Blue Note, 1969/2009 BOP – The late, great Hubbard is captured in prime form in these live recordings, made December 1969 in England and Germany. All are previously unreleased except for #5. The quartet keeps things loose and gives Hubbard lots and lots of soloing space, which he fills with intense, flaring statements separated by tasteful pauses. Don’t miss #6!
