CHRISTIAN McBRIDE & INSIDE STRAIGHT: Kind of Brown Mack Ave., 2009 MODERN BOP – The master bassist gets back to fundamentals, debuting his first acoustic working band in some time. This clean, catchy mainstream disc barely hints at the power and flexibility of the quintet’s live shows, but it will do. Happy jazz, played at a high level.
