Heavy Sludgey Rawk/Modern Metal with dual male/female vocals. You have heard of Kylesa by now, no? Well, expect lots of hard drumming (they have 2 of ‘em), heavy but often odd-metered guitars and a bunch of rumbling bass. They’re starting to play around more with expanding their sound like they did on their last few but this still sound pretty fresh & worth your time.
(((1))) Clicky beats & low tuned, sludge guitars & some good vocals & pacing. The 2 drummers are kinda pointless here.
(((((2))))) Rather heavy riff mixed with Laura’s melodic vocals and Phillips more hardcore-ish vocals. Good basic riffage with some good stop/starts. Very catchy though it drags a tad.
((((((3)))))) Classic & typical Kylesa style: Heavy, direct and thundering. Great melodic break around 2:50. Conjures images of rust & decaying landscapes.
((((((4)))))) Drifty but still rockin’ guitars, big bass & drums and well sung vocals.
(((((((5))))))) Slow & spacey with Lydia Lunch-like vocals & Slayer-ish riffs move around. GREAT chorus & backing riff! This song should be mega.
((((((6)))))) Storm & ambient sounds, big riff and huge male vocals, more awesome riffs & female vocals and back again. Like a REALLY HEAVY version of Fugazi.
(((((7)))) Bombastic riffs but more paced and wah-wah guitars. Good playing but kinda stiff here & there.
(((8))) Mastodon-ish noodly guitars a double drums but the best part is the vocals. Otherwise woulda been a throwaway tune.
(((9))) Part epic-y Neurosis, part heavy psych that doesn’t have much a direction and some old Am Rep label noise rawk thing. Not bad but too scattered.
((((10)))) Heavy psych & dual drums (would be better with just one), lotsa wah-wah and some trippy vocals gets heavier around 3 mins in.
