Rather good singer-songwriter from the very prolific Mr. Joyner. Many a tune in the realm of Lee Hazelwood, Lou Reed, Bob Dylan, Neil Young and even Black Heart Procession. He’s apparently a big influence on Bright Eyes as he’s from the same city (Omaha, Nebraska) as them.
(((((1))))) Lou Reed-y vocals, slow but moving electric country twang.
((((2)))) Bob Dylan/Lou Reed mix with sad, slow ballad tempo focused on piano and guitar, flute and a bit of pedal steel. Sounds best once it picks up a bit.
(((((3))))) Female vocal backing vocals, slowly strumming guitars, slow trickles of pedal steel and glockenspiel.
(((((4))))) Acoustic guitars, “sounds like he’s 5 ft. away” vocals, similar to a country-fried Dylan and Neil Young in the early 70’s.
((((((5))))) Slow, cascading and sort of dark ballary in the vein of Black Heart Procession.
(((((((6))))))) Excellent, sparse country folk with a Lee Hazelwood-ish vocal vibe (though nowhere near as bassy/deep).
(((((7))))) Dual female and male vocal duet with a strong 70’s country-folk feeling. Interesting lyrics like: “Toasted all the heads not yet hung”.
((((8)))) Dylan-ish, swaggery wobbly folk rock ramblers played on an Omaha porch after a few dozen strong beers.
