Inoffensive gentle Americana pop with male vocals in between David Byrne and Randy Newman. Craig Cassler has relocated to Boston from San Diego and oddly cites Jack Johnson, Bob Dylan, and Tom Petty all in the same breath, even though it doesn’t really sound like any of them. No FCCs.

1. Upbeat rootsy pop song, jangly piano and acoustic guitars, warm, easy to like. (2:53)
*2. Sweeping fiddle, banjo, mandolin, sweet, sad chord progression, a pretty ballad about escaping to the country; Cassler calls it his ‘bluegrass’ song but I’d say more of an Americana ballad. (4:11)
3. Shakers, light bongo, organs, twangy, more molasses, smooth vocals, banjo, upbeat, a little like surf country. (3:01)
4. The Byrne/Newman thing is pretty apparent here, slow acoustic strums, no percussion, a yawner. (2:52)
*5. Pedal steel, fiddle, yearning minor chords, the most bluegrass/country on here. (3:21)
6. Reworking of number 1 with an added instrumental intro, bongos, slower tempo, gives the music a little more space, though it’s probably not as immediate. (3:31)
