Album Review
Red West

Early post-punk sound, very lo-fi. Home recordings from cassette, fuzzy guitar, occasional drums (the drummer is good) or drum machine & m vocal. Like Joy Division, Savage Republic outtakes & rehearsal bootleg. Charming though low-energy and lacking moments of brilliance.
+1. Dark early-90’s style post-punk bass, guitar, drums instrumental. heavily distorted- levels too high, tape overloaded- may be too lo-fi for most listeners. Could be a good soundbed.
2. With vocals, lower energy, faster tempo. A lot of dissonance in the guitars makes it interesting. Not as distorted as #1 but more muddled.
3.Cricket sounds, wandering guitar strumming. Audio fidelity much improved
4.A little depressing yet upbeat at the same time. Slows down partway through for Joy division feel. Seems incomplete. Instrumental.
+5,6. Cricket sounds and gentle crooning along with simple guitar strumming. A tropical summer in the Balkans. Good fidelity. I think tracks 5 & 6 are the same!
7. Plodding prog electric guitar & drums. A few funky vocals. Distorted cassette.
+8.Organ, guitar, drums prog instrumental. Good fidelity
+9.Bassy goth post-punk instrumental. Lower fidelity, soundbed material
10. Short track, Joy Division jam. Mid-fast instrumental
11.Practice session? 1st part a quick energetic jam. Pause at around 2 mins with some talking, then a more drum-heavy instrumental with a good buildup. A bit long though. Lo fi, overdriven cassette, but not as bad as some other tracks.
+12.halloween reverb guitar & a little organ/synth, bass. Good fidelity.
13.Some OK guitar work but too plodding
14.Lo-fi, mid-fast, tight simple drums, vocals indistinct
15 (starts w/4 secs of silence) Happy major chords, pop. M vocals with harmony backup. Vocals are a bit off.
16. 3/4 time drum machine, lilting, major key, overly simple. Instr soundbed material.
17.Dreary change between 2 chords which only vary by a tone or two. Instr.
