Ugly Side Of Love

Kind of band that college radio could make. From Bristol England, interesting funky/indie rock/retro pop, creative use of found sounds. Production is altogether slick yet low fi somehow. Pretty damn cool, like the Beatles had they liked each other more and continued to do lots more acid together to this day. I get the feeling that I’m writing a review of a cd I picked off the review shelf languishing that some day I’ll use as an example of a band that everyone loves but I picked up off the review shelf languishing. Elements of funk, hip hop, rock, indie rock. Fans of Pepe Deluxe to Dalek to Pavement. Tracks are brief, radio friendly.

1) obscure sounds intro, after ~40 secs a funky smarmy indie rocky non-sequetor
2) upbeat rockin
3) subdued
4) epic indie pop feel, mid paced but rockin
5) funky and processed and Dalek comes to mind for whatever reason, nice backwards masking
6) upbeat poppy, a white stripes lyric delivery over funkiness
7) chill guitar, funky, brief and trippy
8) super cool downtempo, narcotic with dubby echoverb (but not dub)
9) almost an ethiopiques afrofunk feel, trumpets and gunfire, pretty cool!
10) 60’s pop folk ballad flavor, slightly psyche
11) 60’s rock feel continues
12) smarmy love feel, retro, epic ballady with some turntablism screwing it all up nice, bendy out of tune
