Album Review

Will Kimbrough collaborates with various writers, including Jimmy Buffett, and female singers for this album. It’s basically acoustic country-pop, with pleasant instrumentation and bad lyrics; a couple of his collaborations are pretty good. His voice sounds a little like James Taylor. FCC CLEAN. Try 3, 8, 9.
1. Bright mid-tempo, about appreciating your family. Nice fem harmonies. 2. Mid-tempo, depressing. Long fadeout. 3. Merry, old-timey, marvelous but cheesy. Written w/Buffett. 4. Slow, minimalist, soulful, kinda sexy. Mellotron! 5. Midtempo, some nice banjo, standard. 6. Fun, mo-towny chorus. If America made Love Actually. Doesn’t really take off like it should. 7. Jazzier, cool, soulful, but pretty long. 8. More produced, mo-towny. Nice fem harmonies. Girls take off at the end. 9. A hesitant girly voice (Dawn Kinnard) singing along makes this sound like excellent indie-country-pop. The lyrics are better (written w/Sara Kelley). 10. James Taylor after a power cleanse. Egads.
