Impossibly melodic, devastating melancholy pop. But not indie pop. Pop music in the sense that these songs are appealing, consonant, vocal-focused, and follow traditional structures. This is DIY sadcore, female singer-songwriter material. Pretty hi-fi sound for 4 track recordings; mainly lots of layered guitars and overdubbed vocals; no percussion. S is Jenn Ghetto, ex-founder of cult slow/sadcore band Carissa’s Wierd. Ghetto’s songs are devastating in their melodic tonal choices coupled with the honest lyrics and vocals. Songs are rhythmic, mid to fast, but dripping in moodiness, and big on guitar interplay. All songs radio friendly and worth playing. Cannot recommend this highly enough.

*1. Warm, hopeful, gorgeous melodic plucking, jingly bittersweet melody with some chamber strings; outro is a little sadder. (3:38)
*2. Rhythmic melancholy guitar interweaving, features stinging refrain with guitar twang/slap along with pronounced vocals.
3. FCC? Deliberately start/stop feel, chorus has lovely smooth, backing vocals, sad, pleading. I think she may say “fucked up with you” but it could also be “hooked up”. (3:22)
4. Uptempo, desperate feel with slower repetitive pleads to “save me”, dark, outro has lots of layers; piano and backing vocals thrown in. (3:32)
5. Sad guitar wanderings launches into galloping layered rhythm guitars. (3:25)
*6. A typical song in her style, verses are lyrically cutting, choruses devastating, beautiful vocals, a blissfully sad bridge and outro. (3:34)
7. A little slower, rhythmic interlocking trebly guitars and repetitive, dreamy backing vocals, dark bridge. (3:46)
8. A minute of mellower guitarisms and blistering overdubbed vocals and guitars, angry. (2:03)
9. Builds a bit towards the end, pretty similar to the rest of these. (3:52)
10. Urgent, serious feel, vacillates between fast strumming and dreamy, sustained, spacey sections, reversing guitar lines used extensively in outro. (4:28)
*11. Just one of those songs where the chord progression can get under your skin, jumpy vocal line, piano. (3:22)
12. Tremlo’d, wavy, blurry, hazy phaser stuff going on, slower, dreamy vocals, -1:30 focuses more on lyrics and reigns it in for more straightforward ‘song’ material. (5:26)
