Cassettes are back! Hell yeah. This is the CD-R version of the debut tape release from the Cloud Nothings, a lo-fi DIY rock outfit out of Cleveland Ohio. Upbeat lo-fi indie with fuzzy guitars and lots of scratchy hiss. Jangly, raw, and super catchy. All are great. There are only 400 of these suckers in existence (100 cassettes, 300 CDs) but we were able to snag one from our friends at Bridgetown Records, so give it up. All tracks are highly recommended. FCC CLEAN
1. Upbeat pop rocker with a cheery chorus, fuzz washers and white noise galore. Nice swirly guitar solo at the end with some blasts of distortion.
2. Catchy nostalgic ditty with messy guitars and lots of slow drumroll buildups.
3. A slamming drum intro and frantic guitarpicking leads into fierce bedroom-recorded rock vocals.
4. An oh-so-deep bassline leads into a slow drum rhythm with some static-washed vocals with great intonation. The frantic multi-layered melodic chorus brings to mind the likes of Arcade Fire, etc. The tempo picks up heavily in the end.
5. Scrambled scratchy voices like a Guided By Voices song blasted between two tincans connected by a piece of string. Super catchy scratchy bliss. An excellent choice.
6. Midtempo rocky romp. Strummy guitarlines and great emotional vocals. Nice moody guitar solo.
7. Skippy upbeat pop with slurred lyrics. Subtle vocal layering, whistling and a cheery chorus. Pretty straightforward quality indie rock.
8. Humming distortions, spacey effects and odd minor chords. Lots of overdrive and snarly sarcastic vocals.
