Heavy Hardcore from Oakland via (the now split up) Mohoram Atta on the flip severe & AWESOME Doom/Sludge with fairly harsh vocals from Baton Rouge’s Thou. Both have their moments but Mohoram Atta seems like it would’ve been 20x better live than on record. That said, their side is no slouch but they could use some more obvious transitions.

MOHORAM ATTA - Side A
(((((1))))) Doomy intro, the screamed vocals and a lot of that towering heavy hardcore ‘ala His Hero is Gone.
((((2))) Similar to #2 – heavy HHIG-core. Derrivative but still good.
(((((3))))) Starts off fairly fast like #2 but then goes into a nice sludgy part.
(((4))) Huh? Fast heavy hardcore – good but they did this already.
(((((5))))) Fast & dual vocal HC with some good drumming.
((((6)))) Long and drawn out, super distorted vocals. Reminds a bit of Nux Vomica.

THOU – Side B
(((((1))))) Thick tone, mid-paced with nice “live” sound. Good anti-voting/system lyrics.
(((((((2))))))) Down & dirty NOLA sludge/doom with more interesting lyrics about capitalist/social isolation & destruction.
((((((((3)))))) Awesome slow trudging Doom with some nice breaks/riff resonations. Plus a few interesting tempo changes in the middle. Funny title but it deals with feminism & equality along with its complexities. Not a subject a lot of Doom/Sludge bands have covered,
(((((4))))) Rippin’ raw & fast Minor Threat cover with a killer tone. Punk Lives and D.I.Y. Doom like Thou, rules.
