neo-african/funky jazzy/experimenty lo-fi
sounds just like the slits.
bit more funk&jazz thrown in.
lyrics are mostly indecipherable.
mostly instrumental with cooey incantation vox.
yes: it does sound haunted.
tracks are on the long side and sound mostly the same.
highly recommended.
FCC: CLEAN(?=mostly indecipherable.)
SUGGESTIONS: ANYTRACK=GOODTRACK. 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7.
*1. haunty: a very jazzy, funky slits. picks up fast near end.
*2. haunty: visions of early 70's black panther marches.
3. haunty: african percussion. the coo kicks in. she's speaking in tongues? (mostly instrumental.)
*4. haunty: real long piece. free form freak out ala sun ra. words are forming...but what is she singing? sax closing us out.
*5. ALMOST BEST TRACK: haunty: 60's garage sound. sharpened bass&organ creeping. words are starting to form (i think they're singing 'meow meow' seriously. i'm not trying to be cute.)
*6. haunty: fastest track so far. drums kick this thing out quick.
*7. BEST TRACK: haunty: steel drums. conks. it's island time. first half is best, and can be played as a track in itself (just fade out)
gets warpy in middle. swirling fuckery takes over. tape manipulation, synth? the spell is cast.
