CONRAD HERWIG: The Latin Side of Herbie Hancock Half Note, 2010 LATIN JAZZ – Trombonist Herwig has made a cottage industry out of “Latinizing” the works of modern jazz giants. But while that concept may be gimmicky, the music is not. The arrangements are bright and rock solid, and the band, recorded live at NYC’s Blue Note club, knows how to make them shine. Not the most explosive Latin jazz, but quite strong, and Hancock’s tunes make for a very interesting repertoire.
