Album Review
Your Imaginary Friend
Reviewed 2010-11-13
Full on prog-fusion jazz that would make Miles Davis blush, Weather Report predict the perfect bad-ass storm, Soft Machine get hard, Pat Martino… well… have sex with another groupie. Finnish artist with full entourage of countrymen released on the fantastic Porter Records label. Guitar, bass, drums, electrokeys (Rhodes?), sax, all played with requisite badassedness, insane technical proficiency and subtle touch. Smokin “Motherfuckers”, in the words of Miles’ highest praise. Everything on this CD, about it, is bad ass. Play any track (no vocals, all FCC safe).

1) bad ass, kick ass guitar to this upbeat driving prog that would easily garner Miles Davis’ proclamation: Motherfuckers!!
2) smoother, more chill, keyboard solo then soaring beautiful sax, nice, with a bad ass bass solo
3) starts mellow, slow, but builds/intensifies into a wall of prog Rhodes til a tenor sax appears and rototills everything around it midway allowing the track to bloom into something more mature and chill via guitar
4) major percussion solos, wall of intenseness, that gives way to ubercool tenor sax/Rhodes led jam that Robert Wyatt might very well jump out of his wheelchair for
