Excellent dub remixes of the Reggae cover version of the Pink Floyd classic. What’s not to love? Nothing! It’s great! No bad tracks – all fine dub remixes.
FCC (just like Pink Floyd did it) on track 5. I like 8-12 best, but all tracks are excellent.
1. 3:52 **bit of slow fade in, then nyahbinghi drums, sound of pot being ingested in various ways, and dub. A minute in, turns into upbeat midtempo bubble with horns – very skankable.
2. 4:04 **train station announcer intro, then electronic arpeggios, slow fade in to swingy midtempo syncopated skank. Lots of bass and dubbiness.
3. 5:47 **whooshy, chimey intro, all trancey ‘n’ shit… After 1:35, abruptly becomes downtempo groovy skank with vocals and toasting, lots of dub on the snare. Way trippy, as it should be.
4. 5:09 *beeps and faraway chords… After about a minute, very slow squeepy skank, female wailing vocals. Fades out and in again, for last minute and a half or so is a pretty solid dubby downtempo skank.
5. 6:38 FCC: “bullshit” (just as in the original…) ***woobles and spoots, very slow dub with bits of vocals but lots of other noises. Sing-jay toast in middle. Gets much faster (or maybe just more complex), with bits of speaking, great syncopation.
6. 6:00 **groovy little dancehall beat, mellow electronics, sweet – interesting riddim to use with this particular song, but it works. Runs into next track.
7. 4:05 **midtempo syncopated beat, sparse electronics, bits of things going in and out, essentially instrumental. Gets Atari-weebly for last minute or so.
8. 4:30 ***laid back, downtempo swingy bubble with lots of electronics, bits of vocals, a little harmonica, even. Goes prettily to pieces.
9. 2:37 ****pretty female harmonies, then relaxed Motown groove that somehow involves nyahbinghi drumming – way cool! Fades out 10 seconds early.
10. 4:20 ****slow, tough skank with toasting. Great beat, great toast. Great stuff.
11. 5:28 ****bit of singing, then super-ooper-dub of track 5. (without the FCC!)
12. 3:38 ***sweet downbeat dub bubble with melodica. Woobles wander between channels…
13. 3:47 **electronic arpeggios, then uptempo jazzy keyboards, complex drums. Sweet and pretty acoustic guitar. Get stoned to this!
